COVID Update: Families, please know that not only are we monitoring positive cases and potential spread as a district, we are also watching it very closely at Zinser Elementary. After a busy week last week and keeping a close eye on our numbers, things did slow down this week which is great news, with very limited additional quarantining. Also, there continues to be no concrete evidence of it spreading at school.
Please continue to be careful and honest with your child’s wellness each day. Thank you for staying patient and understanding with us as we sort out contact tracing to the best of our abilities after a positive test result. A big thank you to Nurse Courtney for her many hours of work doing the best she can to figure out these challenging situations.
The daily screening tool is more important than ever given the increased number of COVID cases in our community. If your child is quarantined, we still need and expect you to complete the screener! On Wednesday, 67% of students and staff completed the electronic screening tool. We were hitting 85% completion each day for the first several weeks of using the tool. Thank you for those consistently using this tool, and please reach out to our office with issues or concerns.
Wednesday was Veteran’s Day!
Since we aren’t able to have our annual Veteran’s Day field trip to the American Legion Post 1111, the post invited us and our students to learn with them virtually this year about The American Flag! They created a 10-minute clip to teach students about Flag Etiquette. Students learned what each part of the flag means, how to display the flag, trivia about the flag and its history, and how to fold the flag. The students loved the video! They were especially interested in the meaning of the three colors and what each of the folds of the flag meant. We also had a True Success (Character Building program) lesson on "Gratitude for Veterans" on Wednesday, which tied in nicely. They each made a "Gratitude" sign for a veteran that we will be sending to the local Veteran's Home. We are Kids Who Care!
Zinser Virtual Music Concert!
You probably already know that we are planning a Virtual Music Concert this year! We are making music in various, new creative ways! You will want to check it out for sure!
We will put it on Canvas as an unlisted YouTube link. This allows for safety, but you will be able to share it with Grandparents and contacts who you approve of! Only those with the link will be able to see it.
During the weeks of Nov. 30 - Dec. 5. and Dec. 7 - Dec. 11 please have your music student wear Red, Green, Santa Hats, Reindeer Antlers, Elf Hats, etc. or have items at school to incorporate into our fun virtual music concert taping days!
If you have any questions please let me know! Thank you for helping our kids celebrate their Winter Concert Covid Style!
Health and Happiness to you!!!
